What makes you a legacy in a fraternity

As frequent readers of TFA know, I believe your fraternity should only focus on having the most high quality men in the chapter. I believe in nearly all cases a legacy should be given an automatic bid — especially if the original brother is still in school. Only in extreme circumstances should he not be given one. Think about the brother in the original question.

Also, think about the problems it is going to cause his family. Let the legacy become a new member. If the new member program does what it is supposed to do, it will prove whether he should become a brother or not. You will have given him every opportunity to prove himself, and can now justify not letting him in.

A legacy is a potential new member who is the sister, daughter, or granddaughter of an alumnae sorority member. Being a legacy does NOT guarantee membership into a sorority. Are you guaranteed a bid if you are a legacy? You are never guaranteed a bid. There are so many legacies going through recruitment each year. The sororities cannot guarantee all legacies a bid. If a legacy meets the sorority's criteria, she might get a bid. If the legacy just does not seem like a great fit, she will be dropped.

What is a pledge dad? Someone that you can come to with everything from girl problems to job prospects to feelings of depression. A guy who will have your back and who you want to have at your. Are you a legacy? A legacy is someone who is related to an alumnus of a school—usually a child of a graduate. More distant relations such as aunts, uncles, and cousins rarely count.

Grandparents sometimes, but not always, count.
